The Toronto Police have issued a warning to consumers regarding fraudulent and unscrupulous moving companies. See the attached press release for the details. Westmount Moving encourages all customers looking for moving services to follow the advice issued by the Toronto Police Services:
- Use a moving company that has been used by friends of family or ask the company for references;
- Limit the amount of deposit that you provide to a moving company;
- Contact the Better Business Bureau or Consumer Protection Branch to see if there is a complaint history for the company;
- Beware of very low rates which are often too good to be true;
- Ask for contracts prior to the date of the move; and
- Read contracts thoroughly and don’t sign anything you disagree with or do not understand.
